“Even though we could have won yesterday, the truth is we achieved a qualification to the Round of 16 that means so much to us as a club,” Messi wrote. “Another historic step for both Inter Miami and MLS,” said the captain, alongside a series of photos from the match.
Founded just over seven years ago, Inter Miami made its MLS debut in 2020 and has quickly become one of the most ambitious clubs in the United States. Now, the club has added another achievement to its growing legacy. The draw with Palmeiras, which was nearly a win, ensured Inter Miami finished second in Group A, advancing to the next round.
