With only Scunthorpe unable to overcome the weather, it was nearly a full program in the Championship in another day that showed just how unpredictable the Championship can be.

This weekend was a poor weekend for the sides at the top of the table with Leeds the only side in the top eight before the start of play able to win.

On Friday Watford defeated top of the table Queens Park Rangers and it was Middlesbrough’s turn to pull an upset defeating promotion contenders by a solitary Julio Arca penalty at the Riverside to defeat Cardiff and haul the club out of the relegation places on goal difference.

Fellow challengers Swansea were unable to take advantage of the top two dropping points drawing at home to Millwall.

The result of the day was arguably the game between Leeds and Burnley, the Yorkshire club were two goals down at half time and launched one of the comebacks of the season to score three unanswered second half goals, including an equaliser from on form Luciano Becchio to win the game in dramatic fashion.

Norwich’s recent run of good results was ended as Portsmouth beat the Canaries two nil, whilst there was relief for Darren Ferguson as his side won at home to Ipswich to extend the Tractor Boy’s losing streak to six games and put Roy Keane in a precarious position.

The most emphatic victory of the day was at the Walkers stadium as Leicester City beat Doncaster with a crushing second half display to produce a five-one victory to put a smile on Sven Goran Erikkson’s face.

Elsewhere Reading and Coventry drew as did Crystal Palace and Hull in the less eventful games in the league in an otherwise hectic day.
