England Captain Steven Gerrard spoke to the media in Miami on Friday afternoon following a training session at Barry University. The Three Lions have a final World Cup warm-up friendly tomorrow against Honduras before leaving for Brazil.
Liverpool’s captain was in a positive mood ahead of the friendly against Honduras and the World Cup. Gerrard seemed relaxed and confident that the England national team are better prepared for the World Cup than they were for Euro 2012, the previous tournament where Roy Hodgson was manager of England.
When Gerrard walks England out on to the pitch in Miami on Saturday evening, he’ll overtake Alan Shearer and John Terry to become the fifth longest-serving England captain (based on number of games).
Gerrard will be without Liverpool teammate Raheem Sterling, who is banned for the match after picking up a red card for a mistimed tackle against Ecuador in Wednesday’s 2-2 friendly.
