FIFA will impose two transfer window bans on Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for repeated violations of the rules and regulations regarding the transfers of international youth players, according to a report in Cadena SER.

The embargo will take effect at the start of the upcoming summer transfer window and continue through the January signing period.

FIFA only permits international youth transfers when one of the following the following three situations apply: the player’s parents have moved to a country for their own non-related reasons; the moves takes place within the European Union if a player is aged between 16 and 18; or the player’s home is less than 50 kilometers from the national border being crossed.

Barcelona were found to have breached a number of these violations which led to their current transfer embargo.

According to Cadena SER, Atletico Madrid have already received official communication from FIFA stating they will not be able to sign players for next season. The governing body has also notified the Royal Spanish Football Federation of the sanctions.

Real Madrid have been aware of the impending transfer ban. That is why the defending European and world champions completed the early signings of Lucas Silva, Martin Odegaard and Danilo in recent months.
