Sweden vs England, Friendly: Open Thread

England plays Sweden in Stockholm today in a friendly where Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling will earn his first cap.

England was invited to play as Sweden’s opponent in this historic match. It’ll mark the inaugural match at the Friends Stadium. Plus, it marks the 100th cap for Steven Gerrard, who is set to join the elite group of English footballers who have amassed 100 or more caps for their country.

The game will mark the first cap for Everton midfielder Leon Osman, who will play as a left-sided midfielder in front of his clubmate Leighton Baines, at left back. On the right wing, you have Steven Gerrard who will have Liverpool right back Glen Johnson behind him and Sterling in front of him.

Up front for England is the triumvirate of Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley in a central midfield role, while Ashley Young takes up the left wing position and Danny Welbeck is the striker up top.
