Madrid decide on Mbappe nose surgery: Will he play in US tour?

The latest Galactico at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe, will not join the team on their preseason tour in the US. Nonetheless, fans can look forward to seeing him in action when the competitive season begins.

Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid comes after years of speculation and marks a significant addition to the team’s attacking prowess. His presence will likely bolster the squad, particularly as they aim to defend their Champions League and La Liga titles. Additionally, with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Mbappe’s performances in the Spanish capital will be closely watched, especially as he continues to play a central role in the French national team.

The 25-year-old French forward, who recently transferred from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent, has confirmed that he will be fit for the European Super Cup clash against Atalanta on August 14 despite suffering a broken nose during Euro 2024.

He sustained the injury on June 17 during France’s opening game against Austria at Euro 2024; following a collision with Austrian defender Kevin Danso. This left him with a fractured nose and necessitated the use of a protective mask for the remainder of the tournament. However, recent medical assessments have indicated that surgery is not required, allowing him to recover fully with rest.

Los Blancos’ medical team, in consultation with French medical staff, has been closely monitoring Mbappe’s condition. The decision to avoid surgery came based on these consultations and the player’s response to initial treatments. As a result, he will begin training with his new teammates on August 7 shortly before Real Madrid’s return from their US tour.

Why won’t Madrid take Mbappe on US tour?

Real Madrid’s preseason tour includes matches against AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea. These games take place in various cities across the United States. However, the 25-year-old, along with other players who participated in the later stages of Euro 2024 or Copa America, will have time to rest and recuperate.

The decision to rest the Frenchman underscores Real Madrid’s cautious approach to managing their star player’s health ahead of a demanding season that could see the team playing up to 72 matches, excluding international duties. This strategic rest period ensures Mbappe is ready to contribute at his best when the competitive matches begin.

Other key players who played in summer tournaments will join the Frenchman in resting during the US tour. Such are Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni. This approach highlights Carlo Ancelotti’s commitment to ensuring this squad is in peak condition for the start of the season.

When will Frenchman make much-anticipated debut?

Mbappe will make his Real Madrid debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta on Aug. 14 in Warsaw, Poland. This match will be a significant occasion for both the player and the club to mark the beginning of what many hope will be a successful partnership. Real Madrid fans are eagerly anticipating Mbappe’s impact, drawing parallels to the excitement that surrounded Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival in 2009.

Despite missing the US tour, Mbappe’s unveiling at the Santiago Bernabeu on July 17 was a momentous event. A sell-out crowd watched Mbappe chant Hala Madrid. His presentation was a pivotal moment for the Whites. It reinforced the club’s ambitions and the high expectations placed on his shoulders.
