Don’t be surprised if you see a ton of neutral soccer fans cheering for Egypt today in their first leg of their World Cup qualifier against Ghana.

Egypt’s journey through the World Cup qualifiers in the past two years has been an incredible story, with the national team having to overcome so much adversity such as their footballers having no national league to play for because it was shut down, the riots at the Port Said massacre, playing in front of stadiums where fans were shut out and, despite all of this, maintaining an undefeated record in World Cup qualifying.

The Egyptian national soccer team, which is managed by former USMNT coach Bob Bradley, faces one of the most toughest teams in Africa — Ghana. After all of the adversity that Egypt has been through, they now know that they must defeat Ghana if they are to book their ticket to Brazil. It doesn’t get any tougher than this.

If Egypt are able to qualify for World Cup 2014, it’ll be a miracle. Egypt, and the majority of soccer fans in the United States, are behind Egypt.
