Cristiano Ronaldo

Beckham in talks to sign Ronaldo for Inter Miami, says report

Cristiano Ronaldo, much under the spectacle currently for Manchester United, could be on his way to MLS and Inter Miami.

As of now, the Portuguese superstar is with his national side for the World Cup. However, he is making headlines due to a scathing interview with Piers Morgan. In that interview, which debuts Wednesday and Thursday, Ronaldo slammed the club, its coaches and its ownership. He states Manchester United essentially does nothing for sport. Instead, the ownership group use it as a marketing machine.

Consequently, it appears his days at Old Trafford are limited. According to reports, Erik ten Hag wants Ronaldo out of the club by January, a sentiment the Glazer family likely shares.

Therefore, the 2016 European Championship winner has potential suitors. Some clubs in Europe, namely Chelsea, is a potential landing spot. Yet, one club on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean may have a way in with Ronaldo.

Inter Miami, which Manchester United legend David Beckham serves as President of, is in talks to sign Ronaldo. Steve Brenner at The S*nreports Beckham and Inter Miami reached out to Ronaldo’s representatives. Moreover, this dates back to Oct. 9 of this year, when the club first expressed interest in Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the report, Ronaldo expressed interest in a move stateside.

Ronaldo linked to Inter Miami

Miami poses many positives for players seeking to play in MLS. Nice weather year round, a laid back atmosphere compared to the grind of Europe and adoring fans regardless of where you play.

For Inter Miami, the move is simple enough. It would be a huge boost to a side that only launched in the league in 2020. However, Ronaldo is not the first in line for Inter Miami and its transfer goals.

Steve Brenner also reports that Lionel Messi remains the club’s No. 1 target for incoming transfers. The Athletic recently reported that Inter Miami was ‘confident’ in its aspiration to sign the Argentine in the summer of 2023. However, with the collapse of relations between Ronaldo and Manchester United, Inter Miami may have been afforded a new opportunity.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s focus currently is with Portugal. His side begins its World Cup conquest on Thursday, Nov. 24 against Ghana.
