Predicted lineups for Manchester United vs Leicester City

Manchester United will be seeking revenge when they face Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday after they were humbled 5-3 at the King Power stadium back in September.

A lot has happened to both sides since then, with the Foxes winning just two of their subsequent 17 matches to drop into the relegation zone while United have moved up to forth, just two points behind third-placed Southampton going into this weekend’s games.

Louis van Gaal’s men are, however, not enjoying the best of times with just two wins from their last seven games. Supporters have voiced their discontent at some of tactical decisions the Dutchman has taken in recent weeks especially his adherence to a 3-5-2 system that doesn’t appear to be working.

A 0-0 draw with League Two side Cambridge United last Friday would have done nothing to raise the morale of the players but they must now turn their attentions to the Premier League as they continue to seek that Champions League spot for next season.

The visitors, Leicester, are bottom of the league but they have seen an improvement in recent weeks with three wins and a draw from their last five matches.

Nigel Pearson’s men overcame Tottenham in the FA Cup to reach the round of 16 but they must now concentrate on securing their Premier League status by picking up points starting with United away which marks the beginning of a tough run of fixtures that includes Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Programming note: For viewers in the United States, the game will be televised on Saturday at 10am ET on NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra.

Team News

Nigel Pearson is missing a couple of key men for this one with Kasper Schmeichel, Chris Wood and Matthew Upson on the sidelines, while Matty James is suspended and Riyad Mahrez is also missing in action due to his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Andrej Kramaric is expected to make his first league start for Leicester since his arrival from Croatia alongside Leandro Ulloa in a two-man attack while Paul Konchesky and Esteban Cambiasso are expected back in action after being rested for their FA Cup game last week.

United’s injury crises have calmed in recent weeks but they are still going to have to cope without the services of Ashley Young who is out injured while Chris Smalling and Johnny Evans are doubtful.

Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will lead the attack for the Red Devils while Di Maria and Marouane Fellaini’s inclusion may see Juan Mata drop to the bench after failing to impress in the past few games.
