Chelsea have sacked manager Graham Potter on Sunday evening after less than seven months in charge of the Blues.

The 47-year-old was initially appointed on a 5-year deal taking over the reins from Thomas Tuchel.

However, the former Brighton manager won just seven of his 22 Premier League games in charge but did guide the Blues to the Champions League quarter final where they will face reigning Champions Real Madrid.

Results were not improving

Potter’s departure from the London club follows their 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa on Saturday. The result has left the Blues 11th in the League standings, 12 points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United for a Champions League berth.

Sections of the Stamford Bridge crowd let their frustration known after the game as they aimed boos at the manager and players after a lackluster performance.

Chelsea invested heavily in the January transfer window splurging close to £600m. However, the performance on the pitch was nothing short of dreadful as they have won only won four games in all competitions since the turn of the year.

“Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.”
