Wrexham fans welcome Always Sunny In Philadelphia cast

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney invited some special guests to the club’s match with Yeovil Town on Tuesday, as members of the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast ventured to the match. Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Kaitlin Olson were all seen watching the match inside the owner’s box at the Racecourse Ground. Megan Ganz, one of the show’s writers and executive producers, joined the actors, as well.

The fellow actors did not have to travel very far to watch the game though. A podcast featuring the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia gang is recording live shows in London and Dublin this week. Tuesday’s match happened to fall on an off night for the actors.

Always Sunny cast star competes in postgame sprints with Wrexham

After the big win, Charlie Day even went down to the pitch to partake in postgame sprints with some of the players. He, quite predictably, came in last in the race.

The crew picked a good game to go to at the historic venue. Wrexham beat Yeovil Town 3-0 on the night, inching closer to the National League title. The Red Dragons are now four points ahead of Notts County in the table with two matches remaining. Wrexham can clinch the league title with a victory against Boreham Wood on Saturday. This would give the team an automatic promotion to League Two.

Supporters can expect more guests this summer

Tuesday will most likely not be the last time that Hollywood friends of the co-owners could catch a Wrexham game in the near future. The Welsh side is coming to the United States this summer to play multiple matches. A friendly with Manchester United is already scheduled for July 25 in San Diego, CA.

Along with sharing the moment with his close friends, McElhenney (and co-owner Ryan Reynolds) also received some major news regarding their stadium. The Welsh government has approved a $31 million grant to fix the dilapidated Racecourse Ground. The Mirror is reporting that the government sanctioned the money to help build a new 5,500-capacity stand at the stadium.
