Jarrod Bowen's brace takes West Ham out of relegation zone

West Ham were able to get out of the Premier League relegation zone following a 2-0 victory against Everton on Saturday.

The Hammers hosted the Toffees on the day in a matchup of two teams in the bottom three. Both clubs started the day on 15 points, level with last-placed Southampton.

Jarrod Bowen netted a first half brace at London Stadium to give the Hammers the win. The English winger first scored in the 34th minute of the match. Bowen pounced on the loose ball inside the Everton box and steered it passed Jordan Pickford from close range to give West Ham the lead.

Winger scores twice as he is set to welcome twins

Bowen’s second goal of the game came just seven minutes later. Michail Antonio smartly found the 26-year-old winger in front of the Everton goal.

In a similar spot on the pitch as the opening goal, Bowen doubled West Ham’s lead with an emphatic finish into the net. Bowen’s brace is fitting considering his partner Dani recently revealed that the couple is expecting twins in the near future.

The Hammers nearly added to their lead with two massive chances around the 65th minute mark. Emerson first hit the bar after Pickford got fingertips on the forceful shot.

England’s number one keeper pushed the ball onto the woodwork with the save. Nayef Aguerd then headed over from close range on the ensuing corner kick.

Massive win for manager Moyes

West Ham’s win has taken them from 18th up to 15th for the moment. The east London club is now one point away from the relegation zone. It was their first victory in the league for nearly three months. Rumors suggesting that manager David Moyes would be sacked of they lost on Saturday will have to subside for now.

Everton, on the other hand, stay 19th in the standings. The Merseyside club is still level on points with cellar dwellers Southampton. Toffees head coach Frank Lampard could very well be in trouble following yet another disappointing display for the club.
