Gary Lineker’s Goals for Barcelona: Friday Flashback Videos

Few English footballers ply their trade outside of their home country, but one man who did and who played at the highest level was Gary Lineker who is now best known as the host of BBC’s Match Of The Day.

After beginning his career at Leicester City, he was signed by Everton in 1985 and helped the Toffees finish second in the league. During the 1986 World Cup held in Mexico, he played a pivotal role for England and ended up scoring the most goals in the tournament, which didn’t go unnoticed by Barcelona who quickly signed the striker.

In his first season at Barcelona, he scored 21 goals in 41 appearances including a hat-trick against hated rivals Real Madrid. He also helped Barcelona go on to win the Copa del Rey in 1988 and the European Cup Winner’s Cup in 1989.

The above video features 13 of Lineker’s goals for Barcelona.
