Another weekend of European soccer means another busy weekend for the EPL commentators on NBC.
Last week, a number of storylines emerged. For one, Chelsea showed its depth and talent with a 7-0 beatdown of bottom-of-the-league Norwich. Also, West Ham picked up a crucial victory over Tottenham to send the Hammers to fourth in the Premier League table. Finally, Liverpool dismantled Manchester United at Old Trafford with a 5-0 victory featuring a Mohamed Salah hat trick.
The Egyptian now leads the EPL scoring charts with 10 goals in just nine games. This week, he looks to build on his scorching run of form against fifth-place Brighton.
However, Rebecca Lowe gets things started with Tim Howard and Robbie Mustoe behind the Premier League Mornings desk. The crew takes up their normal time slots before and after each window of games this weekend. Yet, on Monday, Paul Burmeister fills in with Danny Higginbotham surrounding Wolves-Everton.
Kicking things off on the pitch is Leicester City hosting Arsenal. It is only six seasons ago that these two teams finished first and second, respectively, in the Premier League table. Currently, Leicester sits at ninth with Arsenal just behind the Foxes. Kickoff is set for 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Later, Manchester United and Tottenham face off in a battle between two teams struggling. On social media, some dubbed this contest ‘El Sackico‘ with Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Nuno Espírito Santo both on the hot seat at their clubs. The game kicks off from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 12:30 p.m. ET, Saturday.
On Monday, Everton host Wolves in a game between two teams eyeing European competition next season. Everton, eighth in the table, is winless in their last three games. On the other hand, Wolves has three wins in four.
Other Premier League Shows
As usual, NBC brings their slate of studio shows before and after each game. Premier League Mornings features before the first games on Saturday and Sunday with Premier League Live getting fans set for the other kickoff times. Finally, Goal Zone wraps up each days’ happenings following the games.
Much to the delight of fans trying to keep track of as many games as possible, Goal Rush returns yet again. The whip-around style show allows viewers to see all the goals and major moments from each game in the 10 a.m. window on Saturday. Crucially, there are five games in that window this gameweek. Therefore, fans can see all the goals from half of this week’s game through Goal Rush.
Also, Inside the Mind returns. This interview series brings in current and former players and coaches to break down the game. This week, Robbie Earle chats with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. The interview airs on NBCSN at 3:30 p.m. ET, following Manchester United-Tottenham.
EPL Commentator Schedule
All times are in Eastern Time. Remember, the clocks in England fall back an hour, so the kickoff times on Sunday and Monday are an hour later than what we as Americans are used to. Of course, our clocks fall back an hour next weekend, so it is just a week of change.
