EPL commentators on NBC: April 8 and 9

It truly is the business end of the Premier League, now. The race for top four and European spots continues to ramp up, while Arsenal tries to escape the ever-dangerous Manchester City. Then, the bottom of the table is shaping up to be one of its most dramatic finishes in recent history. There is reason to believe any three of the bottom nine teams could go down. After all, there are only seven points of separation between those teams.

Two of the clubs currently poised to go down, Leicester City and Bournemouth, battle one another this weekend. Also, Leeds United’s game against Crystal Palace is another contest between teams near the relegation spot. However, if one of those two clubs can pick up a win, it would create considerable breathing room. Both Leeds and Palace are the ‘best’ of those teams towards the bottom of the table, on 29 and 30 points, respectively.

Kicking off the weekend, though, involves relegation and top four implications. Manchester United hosts Everton, with the Toffees unbeaten in their last four games. Manchester United slumped down a spot in the table since entering last weekend. After losing to Newcastle, the club did pick up a key three points with a win over Brentford.

The game of the week should be Arsenal’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool. Granted, Liverpool is not the dominant force of years prior. Regardless, it is a team that has potential to defeat any team on its day. Manchester United learned that much just a few weeks ago. If Arsenal drops points, it could open the door for Manchester City to close the eight-point gap with a game in hand.
