Chelsea agree €100m deal for Mykhailo Mudryk

Chelsea have reported agreed a €100m deal with Shakhtar Dontesk to sign Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, the Athletic have reported.

The London side are set to pay a fee of €70m upfront with further €40m in add ons for the 22-year-old.

The report claims that Chelsea’s director of global talent Ben Winstanley traveled to Turkey along with a senior board to hold face to face talks with Shakhtar where the Ukrainian club are holding a training camp.

Reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that both sides have reached an agreement with a medical now arranged by Chelsea.

Mudryk heading to London

It is expected that Mudryk will travel to London in the next few hours to discuss the details of the deal. The recent development would come as a massive blow for Arsenal who had been in pole position throughout to secure the services of the player.

The Gunners had a €95m bid for the winger but Chelsea stepped in late to hijack the deal. It is believed that Shakhtar had always valued Mudryk for €100m and now that their evaluation has been met, the club has agreed to sell.

Moreover, Shakhtar had already made their stance clear that the quality of add-ons and the speed of payments would be a priority which Chelsea were happy to meet after negotiations.

Mudryk in demand

The Blues will thus secure the coveted signature of Mudryk in a seven-year deal. The winger has attracted potential suitors with his dazzling footwork this season specially in the UEFA Champions league having scored 3 goals and grabbing 2 assists in the group stages of the competition.

Mudryk has already hit the back of the net 7 times and grabbed the same number of assists in the Ukrainian Premier League helping his side to climb second in the league standings.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter would hope that Mudryk will be at his dazzling best in London in hopes that that the winger can uplift the pensive mood at the club.

The Blues have only won in their last five Premier League games and are currently tenth in the standings.
