Today France’s Vikash Dharasoo became the first player of Indian descent to ever play in a World Cup match. He entered the match in 84th minute and almost scored the game winner in the 89th minute. France and Switzerland drew 0-0 and now the 1998 World Champions have gone four consecutive World Cup games without scoring a goal. France’s defense also looked terribly disorganized on set pieces, and despite a missed hand ball in the box, the French must feel fortunate to have escaped with a draw considering Switzerland had the vast majority of good chances in the match.
As someone if Indian descent I’m happy for Dharasoo, but as someone who likes this France team a great deal I am dissapointed they still cannot score a goal and refuse to play David Trezeguet who is one of the most dangerous attacking players in the world. I quite frankly never thought i’d see someone of Indian descent play in the World Cup, but Dharasoo proved me wrong.
