
Piraeus (Greece) (AFP) – Former France international winger Mathieu Valbuena has signed a one-year deal with Olympiakos, the Greek Super League club announced Monday.
Valbuena, 34, played for France from 2010 to 2015 before a sex-tape scandal and alleged blackmail to get a smartphone back saw him and Karim Banzema lose their places in the France set up.
The 5ft 6in (167cm) forward known for his all action style made his name during eight seasons at Marseille,
and played at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups and at Euro 2012.
“I am very happy and enthusiastic to be in Greece,” Valbuena said upon arriving in Athens.
The last two seasons Valbuena played for Turkish side Fenerbahce making 71 appearances scoring 12 goals and giving out 24 assists.
