
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney scored his first goal of the Premier League season today after firing in a free kick from outside the penalty area against Crystal Palace.
Rooney scored the goal late in the second half. His inch perfect free kick sailed into the lower corner of the net, out of the reach of Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
In the summer, Wayne Rooney was “confused and angry” about the conflicting words from Manchester United executives and manager regarding his situation at the club. At the same time, Rooney contemplated a move away from United after Chelsea put in a series of bids for the want-away striker. But Rooney, given a chance to hand in a transfer request, decided to stay faithful to the United cause.
