Van Gaal: ‘Players are fighting for me … I am fully confident’

Saying that he did not see any reason to resign, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal gave a positive appraisal of his team’s Monday performance against Chelsea, where a number of near-misses for both sides left the Red Devils drawn 0-0 with the Premier League’s defending champions.

After United’s Saturday defeat at Stoke, Van Gaal intimated that resignation would be something he would discuss with the club’s executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward.
