Reports Suggest Saviola Going White

Luis Figo did the unthinkable by signing a record deal at the time with archrival Real Madrid. With that he marked an era of greatness for the Catalan and the beginning of one of the most controversial and high-spending epochs ever at the Casa Blanca.

Seven years later, that history might repeat itself but at a different level. Rumors are running rampant in Spain stating that striker Javier Saviola has verbally agreed to join. In his case unlike Figo’s, the blaugrana faithful would not consider him persona non grata at the Nou Camp if this were to come true. He has done everything humanly possible to remain with the club by scoring goals even in a limited role, but the club still has not budged on signing the Argentine international to a new contract.

In his seven years associated with the club he has been loaned out twice. His personal resume is quite impressive during this time as he ended up as a finalist in the 2004 Champions League with Monaco. Last year, he was part of the Sevilla squad that won the UEFA Cup against English side Middlesbrough. His only title with Barcelona was a Spanish Super Cup this past summer.
