Report: 17-year-old rising star to join Messi’s Argentina for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in June

Argentine journalist and national team insider Gastón Edul has reported that 17-year-old Franco Mastantuono will be included in the squad for the matches against Chile and Colombia. The call-up is expected to be part of a broader list of domestic-based players being evaluated ahead of the tournament.

Currently starring at River Plate, Mastantuono has already attracted attention from Europe’s biggest clubs. His representatives have reportedly met with Real Madrid in early 2025, while The Sun previously linked Manchester United with strong interest in the teenager, calling him one of the brightest emerging talents in the country.

The Inter Miami star made his senior debut at age 18 in a 2005 match against Hungary. Mastantuono, born on August 14, 2007, could begin writing his own legacy for La Albiceleste even before turning 18.
