According to reports from Spanish media outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid are interested in signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea in the summer.
The reigning La Liga Champions are believed to be keen on signing a wide attacking winger, with the 24-year-old emerging as a target.
Pulisic future at Chelsea uncertain
Pulisic has struggled at Chelsea, and with the recent acquisitions of attacking talents, his future remains uncertain at the London club.
The American international has hardly found much game time for the Blues, scoring only once and grabbing two assists in 21 appearances this season.
Pulisic has hardly hit the ground running for the Stamford Bridge side since his £57.6 million arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
As Pulisic’s stock has plummeted in the past few months, the developments could be a win-win situation for both clubs.
Madrid will get a player who, on his day, can be a game changer, while Chelsea will also be looking to cash in to raise money from the sale.
It is believed that the Blues also want to remove some players from the squad after spending an enormous £600 million in the January transfer window.
As Pulisic recovers from his knee injury sustained against Manchester United earlier in January. It seems he has an almost uphill battle to be in the starting eleven, pitted against Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Noni Madueke, who appear ahead of him in the pecking order.
Madrid look for depth on the wing
Elsewhere, Madrid aims to bring more depth at the club, with the futures of Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio looking uncertain.
While Hazard has endured a nightmarish spell since his £150m in 2019 move to the Spanish giants, Asensio is also in the final months of his contract at the Bernabeu.
Pulisic did show glimpses of his brilliance in the World Cup in Qatar last year, and no doubt has the quality to play for any top side in Europe.
Should he regain his confidence and motivation, Madrid no doubt can expect a fearsome winger that lit up the Bundesliga in his Dortmund days.
