Rafinha Leaves Schalke For Italy

Rafinha Completes Move To Genoa After 5-Year Schalke Stint.

Schalke’s Brazilian wing-back Rafinha has completed a move to Genoa in Serie A. Rafinha had been at Schalke since 2005, and made 153 league appearances for the Bundesliga side.

After Felix Magath made defensive signings in the form of Tim Hoogland, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Christoph Metzelder and Atsuto Uchida, Rafinha must have been deemed surplus to requirements by Magath.

The odd thing about the transfer is that in past seasons Rafinha was a central figure for Schalke. This transfer away from Schalke to Genoa seems to be a very meek exit for a player who many consider to be synonymous with Schalke, particularly during the past few seasons.
