'Outstanding' José Reina is Staying at Liverpool, Says Brendan Rodgers: The Nightly EPL

Brendan Rodgers expects Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina to remain at the club after this summer, according to an article in The Guardian newspaper.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who has had his toughest season to date at Anfield,

“[Reina]’s never been unsettled and our relationship is very strong. I have given him and a few of the senior boys real responsibility and I think they have enjoyed that. I see him as someone who is going to be here [next season]. He is 30 years of age and is someone who looks after his body. The sports science team this year have worked really well with him. I think he’s been outstanding and had great focus and hopefully that will continue for us.”

There have been rumors that both Barcelona and Arsenal have been interested in signing the international goalkeeper. And, at the same time, there have been rumors that Rodgers is interested in signing Michel Vorm from Swansea. However, Rodgers latest quotes reveal that he respects Reina as a senior player at the club who “understands everything we are trying to do here and is a great voice in the little debriefing meetings we have with the group and with the defenders and other goalkeepers.”
