Milan interested in signing Tyler Adams to boost midfield

Tyler Adams could once again be on the move during the upcoming transfer window. Leeds United signed the United States national team midfielder just last summer from RB Leipzig. The deal cost the Whites about $17 million. However, AC Milan is now reportedly monitoring Adams ahead of the summer window.

Relegation could force Leeds to sell Tyler Adams to Milan

PianetaMilan claim that the Italian club is interested in signing the American, particularly at a reduced price. Leeds currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, just two points from the relegation zone. The Whites have played an extra game compared to the three teams in the drop zone. Victories by Everton or Nottingham Forest this week would pile the pressure on Leeds.

If Leeds happens to be relegated from the English top flight, Milan would potentially pounce on Adams. Relegated clubs tend to lose leverage in transfer negotiations because of the financial repercussions surrounding dropping down a level.

USMNT star currently nursing injury

Despite his club’s precarious position in the standings, Adams has had a solid freshman season in England. Nevertheless, the American is currently injured and may not play again this season. Adams injured his hamstring in training over a month ago, and he received surgery soon after. The 24-year-old midfielder has not played for the club since the setback.

New Leeds head coach Javi Gracia recently claimed that he was unsure if Adams would return this season. “If I tell you something (an injury update), I lie to you. I don’t know,” Gracia said last week. “He’s working hard. The medical staff are working very well as well but we need time to know if he will be ready or not.”

Nevertheless, the injury most likely wouldn’t deter Milan from potentially targeting Adams. I Rossoneri currently sit fourth in the Serie A standings. The Italian giants are also set to play rivals Inter Milan in the upcoming Champions League semifinals. Adams previously played in the top European competition with Leipzig.
