Mbappé mute on PSG future after Champions League defeat

PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé would not address his future following the club’s loss to Bayern Munich on Wednesday. The thorough defeat at the hands of the Germans knocked PSG out of the Champions League. Bayern beat the Ligue 1 champions in both legs of the tie.

After the disappointing display, Mbappé was asked directly by reporters about his future with the French club. “No, no, I’m calm,” proclaimed Mbappé. “The only thing that matters to me this season is to now win Ligue 1 and then we’ll see. At the moment, I’m only talking about this season. Nothing else matters to me. We are disappointed.”

Bayern UCL matchup tough for PSG

Mbappé also acknowledged how strong Bayern is and that it was a tough round of 16 matchup. “Bayern have a great team, a great squad. They have a team that is built to win the Champions League,” Mbappé continued on Wednesday. “I said it at the start of the season during the first press conference that we were going to do our best.”

“Our maximum is this. That’s the truth. We need to do some self-reflection and return to our daily life which is Ligue 1.”

Mbappé ponders PSG future after another disappointment

PSG have as much on-field talent as any other club in the world. Despite this, they have not been able to capture a Champions League trophy in their history. Instead, the Parisians have only managed domestic success in recent years. Team officials have net spent about $537 million over the last six seasons in attempts to secure the illusive trophy.

Mbappé’s future has been debated and discussed many times in recent months. Although he was almost certain to make a switch to Real Madrid last summer, the France international opted to sign a new deal to remain at PSG. However, his current contract only run until 2025 and Real could soon come knocking yet again.
