On a balmy and breezy night in Maryland, 61,238 supporters turned up to watch the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup match between Manchester United and Inter Milan at FedEx Field.
Fans were treated to an entertaining match featuring both new Manchester United signings (Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw). This also was the first match where United played in their recently unveiled new third kit from Nike. Of course, for many longtime supporters, this match marked the occasion where they saw former United defender Nemanja Vidic playing against his old squad.
The match itself was well paced with Inter putting up a great defense, frustrating Manchester United who had many chances to score but couldn’t due to poor finishing.
In the end, after a goalless game, Manchester United came out on top after a penalty shootout won by Darren Fletcher who was also voted Man of the Match.
