Manchester United Are Planning To Dominate The Post-World Cup Headlines

Now that the World Cup is over, it appears the Manchester United commercial machine is moving full steam ahead in order to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the global event before it dies down.

That means football fans can expect more news to be come out of Old Trafford in the following days, as Manchester United look to reclaim the headlines.

First off, Manchester United and German sports giant Adidas have agreed to the richest uniform deal in the history of sport.

Adidas will pay £750m ($1.3 billion) over ten years, or £75m ($130m) a year beginning with the 2015-16 season. This amount trumps the previous high paid by Adidas (£31m a season) for the kit rights to Real Madrid.

The timing of the announcement continues with the positive trend at the club.

Just a few weeks ago, United announced the signings of Ander Herrera (from Athletic Bilbao) and Luke Shaw (from Southampton) to the club. The club has also been heavily linked with moves for Arturo Vidal (Juventus) and Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund) in the past few days.

While the transfer of Hummels would still be complicated, the move for Vidal is could be feasible.

United have also seen season ticket sales surge as Louis Van Gaal led his Dutch squad deeper into the World Cup tournament.

The Manchester Evening News reported that fans have rushed to guarantee their seats at the Theatre of Dreams and according to the club all 55,000 season tickets have been sold. It is the earliest United have reached that point since Old Trafford was expanded to a 76,000 seat capacity in 2006.

With Van Gaal set to meet up with his new players on Wednesday, an official “unveiling” on Thursday, followed by the squad flying out to the US for the start of its preseason tour on Friday; this looks to be a week which will be dominated by Manchester United headlines.
