Liverpool Football Club will shortly announce the signing of striker Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers. The two clubs have agreed on a fee, which is reported to be worth £8.5m ($14.5m).
The France international spent last season on loan at Newcastle and scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances. Remy was part of the France squad that reached the quarter-finals of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, making two appearances as a substitute.
All that is left for the deal to be finalized is for Remy to agree personal terms and pass a medical at Liverpool.
The announcement of Remy’s arrival will coincide with the departure of striker Fabio Borini, after the Anfield club accepted a £14m ($23.9m) offer for the Italian forward from Sunderland.
The signing of the 27-year-old striker from Queens Park Rangers will be Brendan Rodgers fifth of the summer. Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert were brought in from Southampton; as well as Emre Can (Bayer Leverkusen) and Lazar Markovic (Benfica).
Remy gives Liverpool yet another scoring option up front following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
