Liverpool and Arsenal Stumble As Everton & Man U Fly High

What a day in the Premiership.

In the early morning match, Everton thoroughly defeated Liverpool 3-0 with goals by Cahill and a brace from Andrew Johnson to move into joint-second in the league. In a woeful display by Liverpool, Jamie Carragher made an appalling defensive error to gift Everton their second goal. And to add insult to injury, Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina flubbed a shot that allowed Andrew Johnson to knock in Everton’s third goal.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are on a path to disaster after a one all draw with Middlesbrough. The Gunners, yet again, tried to walk the ball into the net and Arsenal’s Hleb was particularly guilty of passing when he should have banged the ball into the back of the net. Hats off to Boro, though, for a gritty defensive display, and it was nice to see Jonathan Woodgate back on the pitch in his central defender role. The Gunners now have only 2 points from 3 matches and are joint second from bottom.

Both Benitez and Wenger have serious problems to fix.

Man United had a comfortable win against Spurs. Chelsea eeked out a win against Charlton, while Sheffield United and Blackburn bored us with a nil-nil match. These are just a few thoughts from a great day in the Premiership.
