Jurgen Klopp sparked excitement over a potential return to the sidelines—this time with Serie A giants AS Roma—just one year after leaving Liverpool. But after speculation began to swirl over a reported agreement, Klopp’s agent has stepped in to set the record straight.

On Sunday, Italian outlet La Stampa reported that Klopp had agreed to take over as Roma’s head coach next season, with one special condition: the ability to sign six players—three starters and three squad reinforcements—to build a competitive team. However, those plans now appear to be unfounded.

Responding to the rumors, Klopp’s agent Mark Kosicke issued a firm denial in a statement to a Qatari outlet: “Reports on Klopp becoming new AS Roma manager are not true.”

The report initially gained traction Sunday night but was quickly dismissed. Even La Stampa, the outlet that published the story, retracted it on Monday—stating that Klopp will not be joining Roma. As a result, the club will have to continue its search for a long-term replacement for Claudio Ranieri.

What’s next for Klopp?

When announcing his decision to leave Liverpool, Klopp cited a lack of energy as a key reason for stepping away from coaching. Since then, he has taken on a new role as Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull soccer group.

In that position, Klopp oversees Red Bull’s network of clubs, including RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, RB Bragantino, RB Omiya, Leeds United, and Paris FC. While he’s been linked to several high-profile jobs—including a potential future role at Real Madrid—the former Liverpool manager appears settled in his executive role.

For now, any return to the touchline seems unlikely, despite the persistent speculation. Klopp remains focused on shaping the Red Bull soccer project—and, according to his camp, has no plans to take the reins at Roma.
