Jerome Boateng Confirms Manchester City Switch

Jerome Boateng Signs For Manchester City.

What was been one of the worst kept secrets of this transfer season, Jerome Boateng has now come out and declared that his move to Manchester City is all but official.

Jerome Boateng, who will be representing Germany at this year’s World Cup, is also the younger brother of Ghana and Portsmouth midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng. The two will square off against eachother in this summer’s tourament in South Africa since both Ghana and Germany have been drawn into the same group.

Jerome Boateng has played for Hamburg SV in Germany since 2007, and has gone on to make 73 appearances for his club side, as well as 5 appearances for the national team after impressing in the Bundesliga.

His move to Manchester City this summer, for a reported 10.5 million pounds, will be a good step up for Boateng and his ever-growing career. He will slot in at either right-back, replacing Pablo Zabaleta who is often used in midfield, or in the center of defense, eventually possibly partnering the young Dedrick Boyata.

Jerome Boateng is quoted as saying:

“I am going to sign on [for City] before leaving for the World Cup and the deal will be completed. It has been decided that I am moving there. He [Mancini] came with two representatives to Hamburg and we chatted for one or two hours. He convinced me to make the transfer. He believes that I will definitely need a few months to get settled in once in England, but that he sees so much potential in me that he will improve me.”
