Is Dimitar Berbatov Finally Living Up To His Vast Price Tag?

They may have done it the hard way but Manchester Untied did get their victory over arch rivals Liverpool. But Sir Alex Ferguson will have to thank Dimitar Berbatov for the win, after the Bulgarian scored a stunning hat-trick.  Was this performance when Bulgarian finally won over the sceptical United fans?

Berbatov arrived at Old Trafford after an excellent spell at Tottenham, but he has never been able to reproduce the same levels of constancy for United. He often showed flashes of his immense talent, but couldn’t convince the United fans that he had been money well spent.

However today he looked like the Berbatov of old. He was clinical when he got his chances, and his audacious over-head kick was a reminder to all that Berbatov is arguably the most technically gifted player in the league.

Berbatov now has six goals to his name in the Premier League this term, and to me is looking like he could easily finish as the Premier League’s top scorer this season. It appears as if Berbatov has regained the hunger for goals which was often questioned during his first two seasons at Old Trafford.

In a bizarre way I think Berbatov has benefited from Wayne Rooney lack of form. He is now the man who has to carry United’s goal scoring hopes on his shoulders. He is the main man at present, like he was the main man at Tottenham. Berbatov is the sort of player that loves being the centre of attention, right now he certainly is.

Right now Berbatov is on top of the world, and quite rightly so. His performances have helped Ferguson cope with the lack of form from Rooney, and that is justified when you consider Ferguson left of out the England man for the trip to Everton last weekend, putting his faith in Berbatov to lead the line.

But what happens when Rooney does return to form, which he inevitably will, can the two play together, or will Berbatov go back in to his shadow. Personally I think Berbatov has finally regained his confidence from his Tottenham days, and any return to form of Rooney will only come to his aid. In my opinion, the good days are well and truly back for Berbatov.
