London (AFP) – Stoke and England goalkeeper Jack Butland could be ruled out for up to two months after revealing on Friday he will undergo surgery next week on his injured ankle.
Butland, 23, had surgery in March after breaking his ankle during England’s 3-2 win over Germany in Berlin.
He is yet to play this season after picking up an injury in training with the Potters last month to the same ankle.
Butland wrote on Twitter on Friday: “A little update on the injury! I’ll be having a minor operation on Monday to resolve my current ankle issue!”
“Rather than push through and risk damaging further, I’d like to have it sorted for good and be back to the levels I was at last year!
“I’m as positive as always and will do everything to be back as soon as possible!
“Thank you for all your support, JB!”
