Cesc Fàbregas sends three-word message to Lionel Messi about joining Como

As Como dreams big with its Como Cup and international signings, the idea of Messi wearing their jersey—however unlikely—has become part of the conversation.

When it comes to Como 1907, no dream seems too big—especially under the leadership of Cesc Fàbregas. As the club continues to grow its project with ambition and bold vision, the Spanish manager made headlines by addressing none other than the name of Lionel Messi.

During a press conference ahead of the Como Cup, where the Italian side will face Ajax, Celtic, and Al Ahli between July 23 and 27 at the Sinigaglia Stadium, Fàbregas was asked about a possible connection between Messi and Como. And while the suggestion may seem far-fetched, the former Barça midfielder didn’t exactly shut the door.

The speculation didn’t arise out of nowhere. Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, was recently seen at Como’s Sinigaglia stadium with their two children, attending the friendly against Lille. She was accompanied by Fàbregas’ wife and one of their sons, Leonardo. The kids were seen happily playing on the field after the match—images that naturally fueled social media buzz.

Asked if a move for Messi was even remotely possible, Fàbregas replied with a grin: “Never say never. Leo was on vacation at my house. He came to visit friends. We’re close—both our families are. But he’s currently in the U.S.”

It’s true: Messi is under contract with Inter Miami until December, but in soccer, contracts can end and doors can open. Como may not be a giant, but with backing from the American-based ownership group and the momentum of recent signings, the idea—while still a fantasy—isn’t impossible.

Meanwhile, Morata rumors heat up

While Messi remains a long shot, Como might already be on the verge of a major coup. Álvaro Morata is reportedly close to leaving Galatasaray, with Como emerging as a surprise contender to sign him.

On that front, Fàbregas was more reserved: “We’ll see. I don’t like to speak until something is 100% done.

With Fàbregas at the helm and the club’s ambitions growing by the day, Como’s summer is shaping up to be one full of possibility—and whispers of magic.
