I was saddened to hear this past weekend that Malcolm Allison, the legendary former manager of Manchester City, passed away at the age of 83.
No one apart from Brian Clough summed up 70s and 80s English football better than Malcolm Allison. He was always a joy to listen to on television and his clubs played good football. So in the above video from August 1973, we get to see and hear what Brian Clough thought of Allison, the footballer and manager.
And as a bonus, here is a must-watch video of Malcolm Allison criticizing Alan Mullery’s 1970 World Cup performance for England. Brian Moore opens the segment and later on pundit Jimmy Hill adds his insight.
