Madrid (AFP) – The Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Sevilla went to extra-time on Sunday as neither side could score a goal in 90 minutes despite both teams being reduced to 10 men.
Barca’s Javier Mascherano was first to see red for bringing down Kevin Gameiro nine minutes before half-time.
The La Liga champions also lost 59-goal top scorer Luis Suarez to injury early in the second-half.
However, they resisted despite their numerical advantage for nearly an hour before Sevilla’s Ever Banega was also shown a red card in stoppage time for denying Neymar a clear goalscoring opportunity.
