Madrid (AFP) – Eduardo Berizzo will take charge of Sevilla next season after the Spanish club announced the agreement of a two-year deal with the Argentine on Thursday.
“Sevilla FC and Eduardo Berizzo have reached an agreement in principle for the Argentine to be the club’s new coach for the next two seasons,” Sevilla said in a statement.
“Berizzo will arrive in Seville in the next few days to sign his contract and officially be presented.”
The former Celta Vigo boss replaces his compatriot Jorge Sampaoli after the latter left to take charge of Argentina’s faltering World Cup qualifying campaign after just one season in charge at the Sanchez Pizjuan.
Berizzo enjoyed three largely successful campaigns at Celta, leading the Galicians to the Europa League semi-finals this season where they narrowly lost out to Manchester United.
