London (AFP) – Arsenal’s club record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was thrown straight into Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up for the visit of Everton on Saturday for his debut after sealing a £56 million ($79 million, 63 million euros) move from Borussia Dortmund.
Aubameyang’s involvement had been thrown into doubt after he missed training on Friday due to illness, but is named alongside former Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil in a new-look Arsenal front line.
Ozil also committed his future to Arsenal this week by signing a new three-year deal with the Gunners to end rampant speculation over the German’s future.
However, Aubameyang’s arrival means French international Alexandre Lacazette, signed for a then club record £46 million from Lyon in July, drops to the bench.
