Leo Messi will be hitting the silver screen soon when his film, “Messi: The Movie,” will be released in movie theaters and, later, on TV screens worldwide.
Directed by Spaniard Alex de la Iglesia, the part-film, part-documentary, takes viewers on a journey from Messi’s childhood in Rosario, Argentina to the highs of international soccer with Barcelona and Argentina. Based on the trailer (see below), the casting crew did a tremendous job finding a child who resembles Messi, and looks absolutely adorable.
“Messi: The Movie” will feature English subtitles, as well as interviews with some of the most important figures in Barça and Argentina’s football history including Johan Cruyff, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta, Cesar Menotti, Jorge Valdano, Javier Mascherano, Diego Maradona, Alejandro Sabello and many other stars.
No US release date has been announced yet for the film, but it appears that the film will be ready for worldwide release this summer.
