Real Madrid to Pay Tottenham £6.5million After Gareth Bale Wins Champions League

Gareth Bale is no longer the €100 million man. With Real Madrid’s triumph in the UEFA Champions League Final, the price of the Welsh international has risen to about €110 million with bonuses, according to a report in the Spanish media. Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy negotiated a clause into Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid that would add €8million (£6.5m) to Tottenham’s coffers if Real Madrid won the Champions League.

It was Levy’s typical hardball tactics that he negotiated in the summer of 2013 when Bale left to join Real Madrid.

Bale scored the winning goal in Real Madrid’s 4-1(AET) UEFA Champions League final triumph over local rivals Atletico Madrid. Bale scored 22 goals this season in 44 matches for Real across all competitions.

Spurs, who are now under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, will potentially have the additional money to spend in this summer’s transfer window.
