Derby County have unveiled their third shirt for the 2013-14 season. And lo and behold, it looks like something out of the British science-fiction TV series Thunderbirds.
While I’m sure Derby County and Kappa didn’t intend the shirt to look anything like the TV show created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, the similarities are quite striking.
The third shirt for Derby County for this season is blue with a yellow diagonal sash across the shirt. If you scroll down, you’ll see the Derby County third shirt and the Thunderbirds uniform next to it.
As long as Derby County footballers don’t start having strings attached to them and performing like puppets, the story will probably die a quick death. But don’t be surprised if a number of science-fiction nerds who have no interest in association football start pre-ordering the shirt from the Derby County megastore sometime soon.
