Which team would you most love to beat in a final?

With the fourth round of the FA Cup scheduled to kick off tomorrow with Cambridge United hosting Manchester United, as well as the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations going strong, now’s the perfect time to consider the following question for you…

If your favorite team could face anyone in a cup final, and you’d love to see your team beat them to win a trophy, who would be the opponent and why?

It could be a club team or national team. And you can name the tournament.

For me, personally, it’s a really tough question. As a supporter of Swansea City, the USA (the country I’ve lived in for 30+ years), Wales (my country of birth) and England (where my father is from, and where I’ve spent a lot of time), I’m torn between a few options. But if I could pick one, it would be this:

the United States Men’s National Team against England…

… in a World Cup Final.

Given the current form of both sides, it seems unlikely that it’ll happen anytime soon, but I’d love to see the USA team beat England in a final to prove once and for all that the pendulum has swung to a new world power in soccer, and that England’s fantasy about being one of the best in the world is put to bed (although reaching a final in itself would be a huge accomplishment for The Three Lions at this rate).
