Brazil persevered in a challenging match against Colombia to come out 2-1 winners, and to book a place in the semi-final of the World Cup against Germany.
Thiago Silva opened the scoring in the 7th minute after some poor defending in the box by Colombia. From then on, Brazil was in the ascendancy, but despite a David Luiz goal in the second half from a free kick, Colombia stormed back in the last 10 minutes of the game to give Brazil a scare after James Rodriguez pulled a goal back.
