Brazil takes the lead against Paraguay and moves closer to securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup thanks to a goal by Vinícius Júnior. Assisted by Mateus Cunha, the Real Madrid star scored the first goal of the Carlo Ancelotti era, putting the Seleção on track for yet another World Cup appearance.

In the 44th minute of the first half, Brazil launched a multi-player attack. After a cross attempt from Raphinha, Cunha—recently signed by Manchester United—delivered a well-placed assist to Vini, who stretched to make contact and found the back of the net.

With this goal, Brazil edges closer to qualifying with two matchdays left in the CONMEBOL qualifiers, where they’ll face Chile and Bolivia.

If qualification is sealed, it would mark Carlo Ancelotti’s first World Cup as a head coach. The Italian legend came close as a player with Italy in the 1990 tournament but was ultimately not selected for the final squad.
