Man United's Norwegian Connections Could Change Premier League Projections

Manchester United have very many lucrative connections but none other has produced so many top class players as Norway and the new generation of Norwegians have yet to let Premier League Champions down yet.

Joshua King

Personal information
Date of birth: 15 January 1992 (age 17)
Place of birth: Oslo, Norway
Playing position: Forward
Club information
Current club: Manchester United
Number: 41

King was first spotted in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s old summer school by United scouts in 2008 and on his sixteenth birthday he was snapped up by the Premier League champions. After turning sixteen in January 2008, King made his debut for the under eighteens on March 29 against Sunderland. The young Norwegian suffered a spate of injuries in the 2008/09 campaign which limited his involvement for the rest of the season but the coaches at Old Trafford remained optimistic about the Oslo born teenager and their optimism paid off as king made an impressive start to the 2009/10 campaign. With some exciting displays in both the U18s and Reserves, King was rewarded by a first team call up and was handed the no.41 shirt and a first team Carling Cup call up. After waiting on the bench for eighty one minutes, Joshua King replaced Danny Welbeck in United’s third round Carling Cup tie against Wolves. Although King had only two opportunities, the seventeen went close to adding to the score line the seventeen year old and looks an exciting prospect for the future star.

Magnus Eikrem

Date of birth: 08 August 1990 (age 19)
Place of birth: Molde, Norway
Playing position: Midfield
Club information
Current club: Manchester United
Number: 42

After being snapped up from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s old club FK Molde, Magnus Eikrem made an instant impression to Paul McGuinness’s under eighteen side and in the 2007/8 campaign and was rewarded by promotion to the reserves for the 2008/9 campaign. The Molde born and bred midfielder, knocked up twenty appearances and netted two spectacular goals for the reds reserves by the end of the season.

Now a regular for the Reds’ second-string, Eikrem will hope he can continue to impress the club’s coaching staff and perhaps gain a first-team call-up in the 2009/10 campaign after being given the no.42 shirt in September 2009. He certainly has the ability and potential to succeed.
