Tottenham May Begin 2010-11 Season Without a Shirt Sponsor

Tottenham Hotspur could start the 2010-11 season without a shirt sponsor, reports the News Of The World.

The White Hart Lane club has been unable to find a sponsor thus far who is willing to pay the £10m-a-year deal that the club is seeking. As a result, Tottenham’s Daniel Levy is considering striking separate deals for the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.

If a deal isn’t reached in the next few weeks, it’s possible that Spurs may begin the season without a name of a sponsor on the front of their shirts. While that would definitely hurt Tottenham Hotspur financially, it’s a dream-come-true for soccer traditionalists who prefer the days of old before sponsor names “ruined” soccer jerseys.

Tottenham Hotspur’s shirt sponsor last season, Mansion, had a £8.5m-a-year deal in place, but that agreement ended at the end of the 2009-2010 season.
