Toronto FC Wins Race to Sign Jozy Altidore, Says Source

Toronto FC has won the race to sign US international striker Jozy Altidore from Sunderland, according to a report tonight by TSN.

Jermain Defoe reportedly passed a medical on Wednesday afternoon to clear the way for a move to Sunderland. Defoe’s transfer back to England is expected to be officially announced by the club in the next 24-48 hours.

However, it’s the news of Altidore’s return to MLS that has the hearts of USMNT and MLS fans racing. Despite being a flop in his two stints in England, many USA soccer fans know that Altidore is a much more talented footballer than his record at Sunderland suggests.
