Serie A Goes On Strike: Opening Weekend Postponed

The opening weekend of Serie A has been postponed due to a players strike in Italy. This is devastating news for fans of Serie A especially with a brand new season ready to kick off.

In addition to La Liga going on strike last week which caused the postponement of their opening weekend, both Italy and Spain should be embarrassed by the poor organization of these leagues. In comparison, the Premier League has never had a strike. And even during riots across the major cities in England, the opening weekend of the Premier League still was played with just one game being postponed.

Both La Liga and Serie A want to compete against the English Premier League, but if they want to generate the massive sums of TV money and sponsorships that the Premier League clubs get, they’re going to have to get more organized and prevent strikes like these happening.
